I was skeptical that the Lentek Bark Free would help with my dog’s barking, but I was at my wit’s end and willing to try anything. She barked at anything she saw, heard, or THOUGHT she saw or heard. I placed the unit on our patio, and the first time her barking set it off, she stopped immediately. She resumed barking a few moments later, and when the unit beeped, she stopped again. By the end of the second day, her barking was just about eliminated. Now instead of barking, she just growls. I can live with that. I’m sure different dogs respond to the unit differently and some may not be affected at all, but for my little terrier/”terror,” it’s been great.

Do Not Fear the Negative Reviews!Having found that this worked wonders with my dog, I’m back to pick up another as a gift. When a new neighbor moved into my building, I first learned that my dog barked for a good half hour every day starting shortly after I left for work. I knew she barked on occasion, but I didn’t know it was so consistent or bothersome. Even though the negative reviews here gave me caution, I decided it was worth a shot, and I tried the product.
I now have a dog who is a wonderful neighbor. I’ve received confirmation from my neighbors (others, it turns out, had been too polite to say anything) that my dog has been silent during the day since installing the device. It’s been fantastic. I notice, too, that she doesn’t feel the need to bark uncontrollably when the bell rings, when she hears another dog, or when she hears just about anything anymore.
Know that I was concerned about whether containing her will to bark amounted to some sort of cruelty. I understand that my dog is a dog, and part of a dog’s life is barking. In a perfect world, she would bark here and there and be done with it, and my neighbors wouldn’t mind. In my world, however, she was a nuisance. She still knows how to bark. We take walks and she has her fill. But when she’s at home now, she behaves in a way I was never able to train her.
Know that my dog is a shih tzu mix and I use the ultrasonic setting. I seem to recall that reviews were generally favorable for smaller dogs, so this may just be consistent with that. Regardless of your situation, though, if you have a problem with your dog barking indoors (which is the only way I’ve been able to test this device), you ought to try seeing whether this works. For me, it has worked 100%.
Now I’m off to buy another. I’m hopeful it works for my dad’s yapping beast as well.
Bark Free helps!I have had one of these for about three years now. It has helped! The dog figures out to bark a little quieter so she doesn’t set it off. I now put it on audible because the neighbor won’t do anything about his dog barking so when his dog barks and sets it off he hears the sound of the Bark Free and he doesn’t like it, so he has actualy been trying to keep it somewhat quiet. That works for me! It doesn’t stop them completely but it has made a significant difference here…
Could not believe how well it workedI was skeptical. I have a Yorkie who has been barking at every passerby and loud truck for nine years. It used to be cute but now we have a four month old who is not able to nap because of the barking. He was exhausted from all of the constant waking. My dog is too small for one of the collars so I was looking for a device to plug into the wall. I looked through a bunch of these online and finally chose this one. I plugged it in and our dog barked for ten minutes straight. By that night, she no longer was barking at anything at all. One week later she occassionally barks at things that really upset her, but usually only one bark and not very often. My child can finally nap and I feel like my dog is not suffering. She is her happy self but just much quieter. This may not work for every dog based on the reviews I read, but it certainly is working for mine.
Finally, Peace in the house — it works for usWith three dogs in the house, there is always something that sets one off barking. The other two dogs always follow the chorus. We tried every training method we could find, (sorry Ceasar) but could never get permanent control. Put one in our entryway, where the dogs always congregated in chaos when someone came to the door, and it worked! Two of the dogs, a maltese and a terrier, silenced immediately. The Yorkie was a little more hard headed, and barked through it the first couple of times. Which annoyed the two dogs that were silent. Still, the Yorkie has figured out that a low bark or growl is better than setting the “Bark Free” off.
Eventually, the Dogs figured out that there was one part of the house where they could bark and not trigger the sound. Just bought our second one to cover that side of the house too. The new one quieted the dogs on the first bark.
For us, it was worth the money.
The thing actually works. I’m shocked franklyWe’ve got a large front window and our dogs sit up there and bark at everything that goes by, even when our kids are napping. Someone rings the doorbell and they go nuts. We got upset last year and bought those shock collars and they ended up in the garbage.
This actually worked for me, we’re amazed. It doesn’t make them completely stop barking, but it cut ours down about 95%. They don’t wince or anything so I wonder what it does to make them stop.
Never would have thought this thing would work, seems like one of those “as seen on tv” type junk things. But it did for us.
VERY skeptical at first, but it worked like a charm!I adopted my dog a little over 2 years ago and it’s been absolutely wonderful. She’s a great companion: gentle, cuddly, energetic, and VERY obedient. The only issue I’ve had is with intermittent barking. It’s been such a hard behavior to correct since she does it so randomly.
When I leave for work in the morning (same time every weekday), I place her into her cage, lock the door, and head to the garage. Sometimes she’s completely quiet and other times she’ll start barking loudly (she’s a mutt and has a very throaty, loud bark). I’ve tried leaving randomly during the evening hours to see if I can catch the behavior and remedy it, but since it’s so random it’s hard to consistently catch it. However, since I live alone in a house on a fairly quiet street, I figured that she could bark it out (she only barks for a couple minutes at a time as far as I can tell).
Unfortunately, upon visiting my girlfriend’s apartment with my beloved dog, she barked for hours on end, disrupting my girlfriend’s roommate’s sleeping schedule on several occasions. I couldn’t trust her to punish my dog, and I didn’t really care for her to do so, so I started looking into remedial devices that could be consistent when I’m not there.
Shock collars have NEVER been an option for me. Even at her worst, my dog doesn’t deserve to be shocked. Since she might have come from an abusive home, I’d rather not subject her to that again. So, I started looking at high frequency training devices. Since this is a less expensive option and received fairly good reviews, I bought it.
I was very skeptical at first given that it seems a little too good to be true.
The device is quite lightweight, roughly 6 inches tall and 4 inches wide (by my guesstimate). It includes a 3 foot AC adapted cord (which wasn’t nearly enough to get to an outlet in my house and still be in front of the dog), but luckily comes with an extended power cable. It also includes a mount, and a rain cover. The device itself feels relatively cheap, but not as though it would break easily. If you dropped it from your countertop, it would most likely be okay. My only REAL complaint with the build of this product is that it doesn’t have a power button. If you’re planning on having it plugged in at all times, this is no problem I’m sure, but if you’re only using it randomly, it requires you to unplug the cord from the base unit to power down. A slight annoyance.
It has two settings: audible and high-frequency. In addition to these settings, there are two sensitivity levels. My recommendation would be to set it to “Low” sensitivity and test it with an audible tone before moving to high-frequency. I found that in my kitchen “High” sensitivity was just TOO sensitive. Audible at least gives you a decent idea of what noise level is required to set off the device.
After setting the device on top of a table (which was directly across from the dog’s cage) at my girlfriend’s apartment, I plugged it in, and we went out for the day. Her roommate was there and noticed that throughout the day my dog only barked once right when we left, and it consisted of two barks, after which it stopped completely minus a small amount of whining. Since she’s been known to go for hours, this was GREAT news. After having been back in the apartment over the course of the afternoon, we left again. No barking at all when we left or returned. By all appearances, this device did the trick!
So, if you have issues with inconsistent barking as I did, this is a PERFECT device. Even if it IS consistent and you just want to remedy it, this is really the way to go. This product certainly exceeded my expectations and I’m very glad that I spent the money to give it a try! It’s a lifesaver! 😀
FINALLY!I really can’t tell you how much I buy from Amazon but I am on a first name basis with the UPS driver. This is the first review I have ever written on Amazon with good reason. I have finally been able to sleep after 2 years of listening to neighbors dogs.
I live next to a cop that has 2 Rottweilers. Since day one I have asked him to do something about his dogs that keep me up night and day. His only response to me is “I don’t hear them”. Usually I would call the police but that would probably never work considering his occupation.
Last week, despite poor reviews, I decided to try the Lentek Bark Free. I set it on Audible and Low Sensitivity to be able to hear if it was working. I mounted it on my fence about 10-15 feet from where they have their little barking parties. That night I went to sleep and woke up to one of the dogs barking under my window. She barked twice and I heard the Bark Free beep and she stopped.
It has been over a week now and the dogs won’t even come on my side of the yard any more. I can still hear them barking on the other side of the yard but it’s not enough to wake me.
If you can get it close enough IT WILL WORK. The only problem I saw is it may not work on smaller dogs. We have an 80lb mutt that stops barking and runs from it. On the other hand, we have a 7 lb dachshund that will sit and bark at it.

Good Indoor Bark Alarm for the PriceYour dog(s) need to be fairly close to this receiver in order for it to be activated. I put it by the front door which is where most of my problems occur. They still bark once or twice but once they hear the ultrasonic sound, they stop. If they are in another part of the house, then it doesn’t do any good. Overall, a good bang for the buck.
Worked but not perfectI have a puppy maltipoo and as soon as we left the room he would whine, howel, and bark which is not to good for apartment living. We got this to train him to stop. He stoped barking imediatly. We only turn it on when we are not home though cause everyday sounds can set it off (such as closing the microwave, door etc). I recomend testing it out on audible first so you know what types of sounds can set it off, then switch to ultrasonic.
